Virginia State University Collaborator: Dr. Stephan Wildeus
Current Position: Associate Research Professor, Small Ruminants; 100% research appointment. Current Responsibilities: Conduct research in forage-based production system for goats and hair sheep, with emphasis on accelerated mating, assisted reproductive technologies, and breed germplasm evaluation; supervise and manage the small ruminant research herd (meat goats and hair sheep) and on-farm research facilities. The University: Virginia State University, founded in 1882, is the first fully state supported four-year institution for Blacks in America, and an 1890 Land-Grant Institution. Virginia State University has a student population of approximately 5000, and offers 45 baccalaureate and master’s degree programs within five schools: (1) Agriculture; (2) Business; (3) Engineering, Science and Technology; (4) Liberal Arts and Education; and (5) Graduate Studies, Research and Outreach. The 235-acre campus and an 416-acre agricultural research farm are located in Petersburg, VA, 2 hours from Washington, DC to the north and the North Carolina Triangle area to the south. email address: swildeus@vsu.edu |
